I have been using this Pancake plugs for quite sometime now and I have found them sturdy and quite dependable. I have not have one tip on a circle of death yet unlike those cheap nickel version that you can buy at Shopee/Lazada. This one is also an improvement over the previous ones, now with a plastic (or maybe silicon) insulator which protects the hot wire from shorting over the back cover. I have also read on DS social media posts that they will be coming out with a smaller diameter (6mm) cable housing which is a welcome innovation versus the current 8 mm dia pancake housing, an overkill for the usual patch cables.
The build quality is great and I can just solder the cable easily. I will surely buy another set again!
